Do You Use Custom Bottled Water?
The water, supplied to our homes has been specially processed for use of human beings. However, tap water is not safe to drink because of the presence of lead and other toxic substances in it. There have been incidences, where authorities found drugs and even sewage waste in some metropolitan water supplies. As a result, municipal agencies are warning consumers to take steps to purify drinking water or to buy bottled water for drinking. The business world started bottling water and making it convenient for the public to get a ready and safe supply of water.
Now the bottled water industry has grown to unprecedented levels over the past five to ten years and almost everyone has at some time drunk or regularly drinks bottled water. Bottled spring water is one among the most popular types. It comes in one gallon bottles as well as in smaller sizes. In recent times, companies have begun offering custom bottled water for special events, like fund raising, or special promotions.
Spring water comes from natural springs and it may be bottled and sold as mineral water. Currently, water packed in bottle water is simply purified water which is bottled for commercial purpose however they are labeled spring water which is fraudulent advertising.
Distilled water is water which has most of the minerals and pollutants removed. Distillation is the process in which after boiling water, we wait till it become cool so that the steam condenses back into the water. Distillation is slow process and is expensive and leaves a yellow scale behind.
Distilled water, while being good for drinking, may lack certain health benefits according to the Journal of General Internal Medicine and other organizations concerned with health matters. There is always a risk of tooth decay in drinking mineral – free water because it lacks fluoride. Also, it was found that drinking “hard” water- that containing minerals – may prevent cardiovascular problems, a benefit not found in drinking distilled water.
Deionized or mineral-free water is a costless substitute to distilled water. A physical process of ion exchange eradicates the minerals like calcium, sodium, iron and copper and makes the water clean and pure. However, it is impossible to remove all bacteria or minerals, but mineral free water is one of the purest types of water.
In recent period of time, bottled water has come in for a numerous negative publicity from health and environmental watchdog groups. These groups claim that bottled water is simply reprocessed municipal water and is dangerous to our health because plastic leaks harmful chemicals into the water. There are also ccriticisms about environmental waste and the use of fuel in manufacturing bottles. Pro-bottled water groups are criticized for safety of the water because of regulatory standards. Despite all debates, bottled water companies continue to load up their trucks and smile all the way to earn money.
